i beleive we are talking about a desktop already right? if so the dell offers only a 6800 or a x850xt pe for their xps line

He's thinking of the Inspiron XPS2 laptop which offers the 6800go or 6800go Ultra.

the 9800xt is on fire. i really dont know what is better now. The 6600gt or the 9800xt. the 6600gt sometimes pulls away, the the 9800xt keeps up and sometimes beats it also |

but yeah, after thinking about it, it is a Dell, so I guess it's been modified to Dell's specs ??

Most all of Dell's cards are modified, and some like the new 6800go Ultra, actually have the video bios locked so you can't manually OC. I think I remember Dell releasing a weird hybrid card that was somewhere between a 6800GT and 6800 Ultra. I dunno if that's what you have. |

well, not sure if it's locked as i was able to install coolbits and it unlocked it... that's how i found out what the core and mem were....
but looking i can't find a PCI-E card with those settings... but i will say the thing runs really HOT ... temp shows it at 68C !!!! but it's all set up inside the Dell case which is extremly intergrated with fans and slots and air shoots etc... oddest thing i have seen... but the HSF on the 3.65 ghz CPU is absolutly HUGE and the air from it is discharged out the rear of the unit ...not the best for cooling inside for the video card...but, hey what do i know !! |

I hope that's 68*C under load. It's good you can unlock the BIOS. I think they've been doing it to newer cards (especially on the computers marketed to gamers) so that they don't have to worry about replacing fried cards that were OCed. I know 5 or 6 guys at Notebookforums that have had at least 2 cards replaced because of OCing or BIOS flashing. |
