Nvidia Geforce 5700 VE AGP 8x Probs
Hey I have that card. It's really weird. I installed it on my comp and stuff just isn't working properly. Any Windows Media Player Videos don't play properly. Their all bright and play with skips here and their. Same with my games.
BUT. When i lower my hardware acceleration level to "Disalbe all directx and direcdraw accelerations, my brightness of the video dies down and it plays smoothly. But now i can't play games since it requires full acceleration level. When i swap to my old card which is Radeon 7500 Series(updated) it works fine. My dad says it's too old of a motherboard, but i say something else. I"m leaning towards power supply. right now my monitor can't display so i can't check my systems specs but i'm pretty sure my power supply is below 400 and above 200 w.
wHEN I PLAY GAMES the monitor turns all red and flickers but every once in a while it goes to normal. Yes i checked to see if the card was in all the way. Any ideas. I"m about to take the card to my sisters comp which is an updated motherboard and see if videos play properly there. If they don't i'm returning this cardLast edited by drxfilek; August 5th, 2005 at 11:37 PM.

Often the simple answer is the answer. All those answers are good.

Throwing money at everything usually gets you nowhere.
Since your mobo supports agp it should be fine. Most people don't have the money to drop $100 when there is a problem.
Welcome to Techimo btw
edit: now you edited your post
well anyway your probably gonna hate me for saying this but...do you have all the updated driversLast edited by mateo leet-o; August 5th, 2005 at 11:42 PM.

We are not clarvoyant!
We don't know what you have done already.
But my guess is that you switched from ATA to Nvidia with out using drived cleaner.

Dust and overheating no problem. i've let this comp off for weeks and took it out and blew on it from all directions. I just can't see my comp now. It turns on but i never see anything show up on the monitor. I checked the plugs and stuff. I think video cards are just ad luck for me. BTW i updated them to the max everything. I forgot to say that because i know you guys always give me answers of that category

If you didn't use driver cleaner you still have ATA driver interfering with the Nvidia updated to max drivers

lol you keep saying ATA when it is ATI yes i just used Driver Clean 3 (regulard edition) and tried all the different ATI types it deleted some filse but couldn't find a lot i restarted and are going to test it as i type. if this works your a god if it doesn't. i'll guess PS(power supply). That makes sense though. it working every once in a while on my games. that's the only logical explanation. that and power supply. i think i've narrowed it down quite a bitc!
EDIT: nope the cleaner didn't work. I justp layed a video it's all bright but it doesn't skip. O yeah i forgot to mention that y videos skip on full acceleration every once in a while. they happen to not be skipping now but it's still bright(it's not a montior brightness prob)

I found out the problem. Thanx for your help. My motherboard can only support 4x but my card is 8x. I placed it into an 8x motherboard it worked perfectly. Thx anyway

August 7th, 2005, 04:00 PM #8umm, that was NOT the problem, that card does infact support 4x agp even though it is an 8x agp card.

August 10th, 2005, 10:15 PM #10yup we know nothing at all. Run along now kiddy. I must not know anything since the cpu and memory have nothing to do with a gpu.
