dell xps graphics card 6800

Dell Xps can come with one of two cards. The Nvidia Geforce 6800 or the ATI x850 xt platinum edition for an additional 300 bux. I chose the geforce 6800 and already ordered the dell xps because the dell support guy said it was the 6800 ultra. Can anybody verify that the geforce 6800 graphics card in the dell xps option is the geforce 6800 ultra?

Nobody can verify, because it's most likely a vanilla 6800 and not a 6800U, but if the guy said so..... if you get the vanilla 6800 you should complain and ask them to give you a 6800U because the guy said you were getting one. Upgrading from a 6800 to an X850XT PE is certainly not worth 300 bucks, and I don't think Dell is stupid and insane enough to do that. However, 300 bucks from a vanilla 6800 to an x850XT PE seems a lot more reasonable.

yup it is definately a vanilla (plain) 6800. The guy lied to you. I made the same choice for my cousin, and went with the x850xtpe knowing how much better it was.

Call them and complain

Make sure you get the guy's name that said it was a 6800 U if possible. I am sure if you complain enough they will give you one!

Yeah, a 400 buck 6800U (which they get for much much less) is like 5-10 bucks for us poor people, another words, it's nothing..... But I can see the reason why they wouldn't want to just give away graphics cards or other free hardware to people who complain....
