Is there any way to make an MSI Radeon 9250 run battlefield 2? I read the list of supported video cards, and it didn't make it, but earlier cards (the 8500) did make the list.
Anyone manage to clear this hurdle? |

It will run it, just at bad frame rates.
Make sure to have the latest DX and radeon drivers aswell.
Have you attempted to run the game?

yes, the game will load and play the intro, it will then go to a black screen and a warning comes up telling me the VPU stopped responding and the renderer switched from hardware to software. Nothing happens then so I have to restart my computer. |

umm. yes this is what i said to nwo, and andy. The 8500 is a better card then a 9200 especially the 9250 which is EVEN WORSE. YES WORSE. sorry to tell you but your card cant render the game! Although you can get a 9600pro or xt very cheap now!
Bf2 is a very demanding game as you all know! a 9600xt will only handle it will at playable framerates!

you can play the unpatched retail and demo tho. so dont patch first if you want to stick with that card.

It's been years since I've looked at minimum spec requirements for games on my custom built machines, I've always been above standards. I bought the game and tried to run in with a GF4 Ti4200. It blacked out. I then read the video minimums and went out and bought an ATI X800 Pro.

BTW, when switching from Nvidia to ATI on an Asus A7N8X-X board, don't uninstall all Nvidia programs. I found out the hard way that I uninstalled the NForce2 driver set also . 2nd computer in the house is always nice to recover from stupid mistakes. |

Change your AGP setting from 8x to 4x in the bios
I'm assuming there is not much difference between the 9200 and the 9250. One of my older machiens has a 9200 and it CAN INDEED render the game. But I did have to go to drop the AGP from 8x to 4x before it would work. The good news is that there is virtually NO performance drop when you do that. I ran 3dmark01 before and after I made the change and got the same score.
