| XFX Geforce 6600GT 128MB AGP
Hi,
after some advice from another thread i am thinking about buying a XFX Geforce 6600GT 128MB AGP.
i have a few concerns however:
will my 400w power supply be enough.
will my 2.8 and 1gig ram be enough
does my abit 1s7 mobo support this type of card
is there a way to passively cool the card.. or reduce the fan noise
cheers,
G |

400W SHOULD be enough...
ur CPU might be a bottleneck but u should see gaming improvement.
I would passively cool the card but u can get an aftermarket cooler thats quieter...
I have an Arctic Cooling NV Silenver 6 rev. 2 on my 6600GT and its awesome.. better cooling and quieter too

A 400watt will be fine. I got the exact same card and run a 300 watt psu. One word of advice--dump the crap fan and put a real fan on that heatsink. I run 43c now vs the 58c i did prior. |

2048x1536 is what i see in my nvidia control panel. Get the card-they are great. Most will overclock to 550/1100 with coolbits registry hack at default volts. Mine actually goes 620/1270 at 1.6 volts. But i run it at 550/1120 because i saw no noticable gains in games. Memory and your cpu will work fine. Should be good to go. Also if you don't like the 6.81 drivers i'd recommend the 77.72 drivers as they seemed to work the best. 77.77 drop performance and the 78's just crash my system. |

Before windows boots hit delete and go into bios. It's usually delete--sometimes F1. Then there is an area for changing voltages if your motherboard supports it. Dell usually doesn't. |
