R520, RV530, and RV515!
Anandtech has a nice article about them!

Well, I say, unless the new arcitecture is extremely efficient, ATI is gonna have a hell of a time!

The R580 is in house and working aparently, which means the R520 is done. Any day now we can expect reviews and benchmarks to pop up. The price is going to be a killer for them IMO. As soon as it ships, expect Nvidia to drop prices of the GT and GTX.

Ya, I just wonder if the top ones, with only 16 pipes, can even compete with the 7800 GTX...well, we will find out soon!

September 15th, 2005, 10:29 PM #4I highly doubted, and as far as Nvidia dropping the prices, I doubted....

Umm...
It says a 256 bit bus...At the top end is the Radeon X1800 XT; this 16-pipe R520 will feature a 600MHz core clock, with a 256-bit memory bus connected to 512MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 700MHz."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

September 16th, 2005, 02:30 PM #7It should simply because of the bandwidth that the cards supposedly have. Only benchmarks will tell though.

Hey, I just saw this! X1800XT Review, and benchies!

http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1813.1/
So, basically, they said that you chould NOT buy a new ATI card...at $450, the 7800GTX completely wipes the X1800Pro...and for $150 more, you can have the X1800XT...which just keeps up with the 7800 GTX.

Actually, teh X1800pro is a tad bit faster than a 7800GT

But...is it worth the extra $150? But I am sure it will be more than that since there is only a limited supply of them...so probably more like $200-$250 more...

...support for linux is just terrible.-Space

Well, I guess ATI this round loses big. nVidia stock will no doubt go up.
I don't think most people will pay $150 more for a little increase.

Ya, nVidia has been doing good after they got past the FX series...I don't know about before then...I never even used a comp hardly before then.

September 16th, 2005, 11:05 PM #15well, the 5900s were pretty good...maybe a bit pricey...but good high-end cards at the time. I don't see a problem with teh FX series....anyone wanna throw in why it "sucked"? They were good performance-for-the-price cards...I dont see anything wrong here.

Well, the 5900's were loud, from what I recall [or at least the 5800's]. And, ATI was better than nVidia in that cycle.

Eh, compaired to the similar priced ATI 9XXX's, they were bad for gaming...but ya, I will never buy anouther FX, and I will also steer people clear of it, and reccommend the ATI 9XXX's instead.

Ya, I still remember my FX 5200...back then I thought it was good...then I started looking at getting a 6800 GT...I though "well, theoretically, I should get around 6x as many fps as I am getting now"...well I was BADLY mistaken! Went from TWO frames per second in halo at 1280x1024 with everything maxed, to OVER 60 at the same settings on my 6800 GT! Ya, 30x as good!
