128mb enough for todays! Sharing your memory with video card!

would 128mb memory bee enough for todays games? And in bf2, my 6600gt cant play texture on high because a 256mb is needed. If i put it on high, the game will jump and lagg, good frames, but it will skip, or jump

would sharing more ram with my video card allow all the jumps and laggs when i put texture on high? Thanks!

Would adding more ram like 2gigs prevent this. I have 1.5 gigs now!

adding extra system memory isnt going to solve your problem coz you already have 1.5gb ram . (rant) get a better gfx card (rantoff) hehe ... you cant add more ram to a video card !

i beleive he is talking about the agp aperture size which will really not help you in this situation. 2gigs IS better than 1.5 for bf2 as it has been proven to run better, it might be hard drive thrashing that is causinng it to jump. so if you can slap in another 512 try it out, it will help out by a few frames, but the main problem is the videocard

what resolution are you running it?
    Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit
    File Server: AMD Opteron 180 / 3gb DDR400 / Nvidia 6200 / WinXP Home 32bit / Lubuntu 12.10
    Laptop: HP-Compaq nc8430/ Intel CoreDuo T2400 / 2gb DDR2 667/ Ati x1600 / WinXP Pro 32bit

I noticed a big difference going from 1GB to 1.5GB, but not much difference between 1.5 and 2GB, but every system is different. If you've got more background processes running, then it very well may be that you'll need a full 2GB for it to run properly. Generally speaking, the occassional studders are USUALLY ram related. Before upgrading anything though, check the basics. Disable any unnecessary processes, disable any firewalls, antivurs, or antispyware programs and don't run at resolutions higher than 1024x768.
