Here is my setup right now:
MSI k8n neo 4 platinum edition
AMD Athlon 64 3200 venice core
1 gig 2 x 512 patriot 400 ddr ram (dual channel)
120 gig WD caviar SE IDE hard drive
Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Edition
HIS Radeon X850XT
Coolermaster 450 watt power supply
So here's the question:
First, would I notice a performance boost with the 7800gtx vs. the radeon?
Second, would there be any bottlenecking between my cpu and gpu?
Third, is my power supply enough to fuel this beast?
Thanks,
Sean |

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes the wattage is enough, but it depends on the amps going to the rails. I see that the RS-450-ACLY has 18 amps going to the rail. That's a little low IMO. What model do you have?

would I notice less of a bottle neck with the 7800gt?
Which card would suite my system better? |

Is the venice overclocked? If not then i think there would be a bottleneck, i paired a 3000+ venice and a evga 7800GT and there was major bottlenecking, i think the 7800 series requires some of the higher end CPU's. |

First I'll ask... What resolution do you like to play at?
Then I'd like to say that in the real world, you'll notice less difference than you might think in the abilities of the 7800GTX over that of the x850xt. And though it doesn't seem you need to worry about money that much when talking about buying the best video cards on the market, I'd suggest upgrading your CPU instead(or if you really don't like money, upgrade both) as it will be very bottlenecked.
A new PSU is almost a certainty. Your current one may run just fine, but I personally wouldn't trust a powerful system like that to a company with overinflated, under powered PSUs. |

personally I think the money spent isn't worth it.
The x850 is still a great card.
Before you go upgrading that, get your self a better cpu, and possibly swap out the 2x 512mb (sell them) and buy 2x 1gb sticks, and with that you will notice a nicer boost, especially in games like BF2

In all likelyhood the PSU will run what you want just fine. That coolmaster may even be a rebadge of a decent PSU, but they often tend to inflate their capabilities. |

Yea before i would upgrade the video card i'd get a better CPU, if your planning on playing games on high resolutions then buy both, if not then just stick with your current card. Just if you do get the 7800 make sure you get a better CPU first or OC your current one..by a lot. |

The only problem with the power supply is that there may not be many amps running down the 12v rails. If that supply is like the other one I posted, I wouldn't trust a high end system to a PS that only has 16-18 amps on the rails. That's low IMO. In comparison, My supply is a 550watt, but has 38 amps in the 12v rails. |
