I was thinking of getting a new video card here shortly (have a 9800pro) and didn't really know what would be the best video card within the $300-350 price range. By the way i can only get AGP. The 6800GT looks good and has shader 3.0 but the X850 PE looks faster but with the new features. In your opinions, which way should i go? Or is there a better card? Thanks |

They do make agp Ultra's but they're all really expensive. The cheapest one I found was $440 at tigerdirect. I'd stick with a 6800gt, or the equivilent from ati. And if you really have to have more performance you could always just get some good cooling for it and go for some overclocking. |

Go with the Ati x850xt pe, definately!
-Runs cooler
-Best AGP card available
-Destroys performance of 6800gtand is a good amount faster then the ultra
As far as ps3.0. There are few games that take advantage of it (farcry is the only one I can think of) Which inturn makes a big performance hit on the card and get's you less frame rates. I have never seen a visual difference between 2.0 and 3.0 I'm sure if you looked hard enough you would be able to see it if someone pointed it out but it's not worth buying a slower card for around the same price when you can get the best out and won't see a visual difference between ps2.0 and ps3.0... besides... http://www.techimo.com/newsapp/index.pl?photo=15151
The x850xtpe is hands down the best agp card available.
