my problem seems to be i can't get the second pc to show in the display

Are you trying to run two monitors off one video card or do you have the other monitor hooked up to onboard video?

To cover both screens with one window, you need a program like ATIs Hydravision, but XP should run 2 seperate windows by itself. I set up XP last week, and 2 monitors started working by itself. This is with 1 video card.

You need to switch to the intergrated video card and install the drivers first, or wich ever one is not installed yet.
Intergrated won't have two ports, so you must have 2 cards.Last edited by stroyal; November 13th, 2005 at 06:34 PM.

woh wait wat? lol. okay. so it says that both monitors are "integreated video" so the default one is near the base of the tower, which is working. the second "IV" is near the top, and that one is displaying nothing on the screen.

Can you even run both integrated video and agp/pci express video at the same time? I thought as soon as a card was plugged into the agp slot/pci express slot onboard video was disabled...

November 13th, 2005, 06:36 PM #11Not sure about XP, but I run a WIN98 computer with intergrated and a PCI card with no other software.

okay, i did not understand any of that at all. i know that you can have 2 monitors on xp. i'm almost positive. cuz in one of the dell help menus on the pc, there is a thing you can go threw if you are having problems with having 2 monitors. and yes i did it but my problem is the second pc (on the display tab) is not showing up

I think that may be why his isn't working...

November 13th, 2005, 06:42 PM #15You probably have Intergrated and PCI or AGP. The AGP or the PCI will be the one in the expantion slot and the onboard will be with the one with the ports like serial sound and paralel

LOL
Make sense?

November 13th, 2005, 06:49 PM #17Does it mater if the onboard is AGP or reg PCI?

Onboard is hooked directly into the mobo... I believe it is considered AGP.

If one is PCI and one is AGP then that will work. You may have a bios setting to make your integrated video behave as PCI, but more likely you only have a setting to turn it off.
