| 17" LCD for gaming specs?
What are some good points to look for in a 17" LCD that will be used for everything from surfing the net, editing pics, web design, watching DVDs, and gaming. Games would be like CoD 1&2, BIA, HL2, DOOM, and similar.
thanks.

Fast response time, high contrast, high lumens.
Be careful what you read though. Some manufacturers are advertising a 4ms RT, but it's actually 12ms. 4 to white, 4 to black, 4 back to white. Those are probably still the fastest, but don't be fooled.
I prefer Samsung's LCD in specification, and they're one of the top players in video right now. |

Things to look for when purchasing a new LCD monitor is 1st the size you would like. But also look for the following:
Standard on a 17-19in LCD is 1280x1024
Get one with a good response time. 8-16ms will be fine. When you get something over 20ms you will start to see what they call "Ghosting".
Get one with a good contrast ratio. I have a 17in LCD with 600:1 contrast, its the measurement of the darkest black vs the brightest white.
Look for something with a good warranty, usually if they have a good warranty, its gonna be something they stand behind and it will last.
I prefer Samsung, if you look around and shop, you can get some really good deals. I have a 17in LCD Samsung the 710N. I love it. I also have a 19in Samsung LCD thats great. Its the 914V. The seller on Samsung other than there good reviews are the 3 year warranty that comes with them.
But I am sure others here will be helpful with giving some tips on buying a new LCD. Good luck
