The wires used to carry the digital information are not the same ones used to carry the analog information. If the wires for the digital signal are defective then an analog test won't detect that. |

problems you have been describing. If a temporary setup of a different monitor is
then seeing the exact same problems then that can be ruled out as the cause. A
different hardware device would be the item to identify at that time. |

Thats the thing. Is there any other method of testing the monitor for defect?

You see, i actually dont mind shipping this monitor out for replacement b/c i have a dead pixel in the middle that annoys me. So i can just pay 20bucks or so for shipping to get it replaced and maybe it'll fix the problem lol |

but other monitor works without problems? if so then the problem could be your monitor.

You also have an analog RGB input for use on another system. But there agreement with
DanU on a possible bad cable can't be ruled out if the monitor shows no problem running on
a different system with the RGB input being used. But again that wouldn't rule out problems
with the internal wiring to the DVI input. Your video card also offers an S-Video output for a
test on the system by other means if you don't have another monitor with the same input. |
