Monitor resolutions

I have a HP p1120 21" CRT, when i use this monitor with main main pc the max resolution that it will display is 1800 x 1440. but if i use it on my 2nd machine then it can disply the resolution of 2048 x 1536, why is this ?

Main PC - Radeon9800pro
2nd PC - 4 year old nivida

Perhaps you don't have drivers installed on both pc's for the monitors? Either that or those are the max resolutions supported by your video cards.
