Problem with nvidia drivers

Ok so i tried to install the newest drivers from nvida however after i install them i rebbot then when it comes to load the welcome screen my monitor acts as if there is no signal.

To correct it i have to start in safe mode then use system restore. Atm i am using the drives that came with my card 77.03 or something. As you can see i am quite out of date if the latest ones are 84. something.

I have an AGP 6600GT.

I have also tried other drivers however none work that are over the ones that i have at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

try running driver cleaner, in safe mode, to completely remove the old drivers.

ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/81.85_whql

81.85s should be good the new 84's are betas.

this might sound a bit odd but it worked for me .......when you shut down the pc .......turn off the power at the wall as well.

that was the only cure i had for a similar "no signal" problem.

i still don't know what caused the problem or why the power shut off fixed it.
