I have a 6800 and when I turn my computer on, their are blue lines and specks on the Windows start up page. Then my computer doesn't load, restarts, or becomes vertical black and white lines. I have the newest driver. Anyone know whats wrong? |

first off... how old is the pc...
is it home built or from the factory...
was it working previously or have you tried to overclock it and now it does this...?
is it a new card ?? (replacement)

I got the PC about a month ago, and the card about 3 weeks ago. Factory built HP. It was working for the first week or two even after i overclocked it. My onboard chipset works fine though |

sounds like a PSU problem... you say your onboard video works... but the card doesn't..... is your onboard drivers the same as the new card drivers... if not, you need to uninstall your old drivers and reinstall your new ones....
but it really sounds like a pwr issue or a bad card... (most likely a power issue)
how many watts is your PSU .... |

well, first off, with your pc being an HP (factory) ... what is the model number of your system... like HP 5100 .. something like that...
it might be that you would need a certain type to fit the (PC tower) ... unless a standard PSU can fit...
also, that's pretty cheap for a PSU that was recommended above... you don't want to go real cheap.. you would end up in the same situation you are in now.... |

so you have a PCI-E video card..
i would contact HP or take out the power supply (and take it to a PC store and see if one matches) and see if you can find a better PSU .. with more Watts... look at finding one with a good 12 volt rail , I would go with about 400 at the minimum .. but look at maybe 450 to 500 ... |
