| Need some help - radeon X800 GTO...
Here's the conundrum. I have a integrated GEForce 5200FX POS. It's time to upgrade, and I found the reasonably priced Radeon X800 GTO at Newegg. The problem is, will it (the card) fit inside my dell dimension 4600 box, which is more compact than previous designs?
Thanks ahead of time to anyone who can answer or point me in the direction of one! |

It should fit, but you don't have a PCI-E slot in there, only an AGP slot. Afaik, there's only one AGP X800GT, no GTO... Sapphire cards I believe. And Google says yes: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/...pphire-14.html
However, I strongly recommend upgrading the amount of RAM you have to at least 512 megs if you havn't already. The 4600 only comes with 256 megs, which will bottleneck the card severely.
EDIT: Gah, you posted at the same time as me. *cries* Good find on the card though. It shoooould fit... may be real tight.

Well, from that tiny screenshot of one of the pic links i posted has an AGP slot. IF you have an AGP slot in there, then go for it |

Yeah, it's AGP, bought it too late (or early) for PCI-Express. A 3.2 gig with 1 gig of ram computer it is.
Edit: So Mjolnir, you're saying it will FIT?? |

ACK! You meant that skinnier dell? that looks like so? http://www.smallbusinesscomputing.co...sion_4600c.jpg
We all keep editing are posts a lot, or me at least o_o
I doubt the skinnier dell will fit it.... check to see if it has an agp slot, because usually those kinds of computers dont And the tiny power supplies won't be able to power that card anyway... ) |
