    Overclocking my 7900gtx

     
    How can I crank up my core on my 90nm babie. I have a 7900gtx and would like to crank it up a tad so I can get better benchmarking.
    MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum / A64X2 4800+ Toledo(Stock)
    7900GTX 698mhz / 2GB Corsairs XMS PRO Dual
    Hitachi SATA II (2x 250GB, 1x 500GB)

    You need to download coolbits. Once you have that you simply go to the control panel, display, advanced, then click on your geforce 7900gtx and you will have a new section that has Clock and Memorey Frequency control.

    I got it working thanks. but one thing is that my temps are really low, I mean its max 59C load and 49 idle. I want to put it atleat 700mhz and beyond but the test button that you must push says It fails. Is it because I have to Up the MHZ in the bios and if so by how much. Its a 100 now and goes by increments of 1 to 125 i belive ? I scared even to do 101

    If it fails the test then you probably cant get anymore out of it. There are lots of things that cause instability not just heat. Coolbits is pretty reliable at finding your max OC. It has been for me at least in the past. I have tried a few times to manually OC it past what it recommends and I would just end up with distortions.

    theres a 7900GTX now, is it as powerful as the X1900XTX?

    Some tests the 7900gtx wins some the x1900xtx wins. They are both great cards.

    I was about to say that about one or maybe a half a month later the 7900 came out. I will OC this bad boy some more.

    My question is why do you need too? its not like that card cant handle anything that you throw at it. Your idea of overclocking is like making a 50megaton nuclear bomb a 51megaton bomb... does the same thign, but 5 frames faster?

    my 7800 will run 525 on the core with no artifacts on 3dmark05, i startup doom and it artifacts within seconds.
