| installing video card problem
I am trying to install a video card on my Acer power. The display runs fine till windows starts up and then freezes. I tried two different video cards with the same result...first one is a tnt2 m64 32mb & the second is a geforce mx4000 128mb ddr
My motherboard is a "SIS 620 a2"
I have 376mb of ram
24gb of harddrive space
My processor is a p3 650mhz
I am running windows XP home edition
I did read the specs on the geforce and my system should be more then plenty to run it. I also tried to contact acer to see if maybe some how they were not compatible with the motherboard but never got an answer back.
also somebody told me to disable the onboard graphics card by going into bios but for some reason i cant even access my setup when my computer first boots ups.
Please help |

Have you tried holding down - F1 , F10 , Delete , F8 ? Try one of those as they are the most common to accessing the BIOS. Once you can get into the bios, disable your onboard graphics.

you shouldnt have to disable the onboard...
It will automatically overide the onboard when the AGP card is installed...
however it may be a driver issue...
take out the cards... boot normally and use drivercleaner to remove the onboard graphics drivers...
then reboot with the new card and install the new drivers... |
