| GeForce 7800 GS 256MB GDDR3 DUAL CARD?
Sort out the PSU for my Dell Dimension 8300 - found a company that custom dell ones of 470W
Does it make sense to keep my current ATI Radeaon 9800 pro in the machine can I have 2 card running in the same machine? (I thought it would make dual screens alot easier than using DVI and VGA port?)
GeForce 7800 GS 256MB GDDR3 is the one I am looking at...also is this going to be Vista friendly??? |

simoc you got it wrong there . AGP doesnt support SLI ( its like two similar cards ) or for that matter , CrossFire . get the 7800GS you will easily love the new card . it supports dual-display u can easily plug two monitors into those dvi/vga ports . |

What are some of the cheaper cards(nvidia based) that support dual moniters? Also, do the moniters need to the same? Can they both be DVI, or both VGA? |

you can try Geforce 5200 . make sure it comes with two dvi or vga ports . Monitors need not be the same . yep if they both dvi , you can use dvi-vga adapter in case ur gfx card doesnt have dvi ports . if they are vga , u can just directly plug it . |

Ok. I have nvidia 6800xt, amd3700
I have a 15" dell lcd, and am going to but an Acer 19" Widescreen. Both are only VGA. Wonder how the outcome will look.
When you connect both moniters...What will be displayed on each moniter?
Will there be 2 seperate desktops, or half of the desktop on each?
Will i be able to run a game on one, and inernet on the other simaltaneously? |

you can have one big desktop, or have it cloned, theres a few different options, but in ym expeience its not enjoyable and just annoying if there not the same size. |

you can use 2 cards when one is AGP and the other PCI...
your radeon 9800 should be just fine by itself running 2 monitors though...
all thats needed is a DVI to VGA adapter if both are VGA monitors...
then just enable dual displays under display manager under your catalyst manager...
As for whether it will be Vista freindly....
Thats going to have to be seen...
I would not use that as a basis for upgrading an older system like that...
By the time Vista is out and more useable, you would most likely be upgrading entirely...

Im going to start by saying Sorry.....BUT,
I figured my first post would help in understanding/answering the main topic.
After that, it seemed that the thread had died, and therefore took the oppurtunity to ask questions about a smiliar topic.
SimionCpage never replied, or posted a second time...giving me the impression he was answered/informed completely. |
