Display problems with blurred monitor

Hi,

I am having problems with the display on my monitor. Around the edges of the screen everything is blurred. Text is difficult to read and icons lack clarity.
Towards the centre of the screen the clarity is better, but still not perfect.

This started when I installed Call of Duty 2 on my PC a few weeks ago. As soon as I started the game up for the first time, the screen suddenly went blurred and has not been right since. I am afraid that something was damaged.

I have tried updating my display drivers but this has had no visible affect. I have also tried using a different monitor but the effect is the same, which leads me to believe that my graphics card may be the problem.

If anyone can offer me any advice I would be grateful. My specs are:

3.0 Ghz Athlon Processor
512MB RAM
40GB HD
Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card
HP 15" Monitor

LCD or CRT? What resolution? If the game is not playing in the native resolution for an LCD, the picture quality is going to be compromised no matter what else you do.

Really, isn't it time to get a new monitor anyway? I've seen 17" CRTs at garage sales for $10.

That would be a CRT monitor going out of focus. You've either overdone the settings (try a lower resolution and/or refresh rate), or it's plain and simply on its way out.
