Alright folks I briefly read through the thread and although there are some decent suggestions, Im still a bit perplexed as to which monitor I should get (and with what stats!).
I game mostly so I dont want ghosting or blurring of any sort. I also am a novice photographer so I'd like to still keep a crisp clear picture when viewing my photos. I have a good corporate discount with Dell and I have several stackable coupons/gift vouchers for $50 each so I was sort of leaning towards a 20.1" widescreen dell. But are Dell's good for gaming?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT:
The SCEPTRE monitors seem to get pretty good reviews at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16824112005
And I currently have a KDS CRT which has been excellent for the past 3 years. What about this LCD version: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec....0&RSKU=AA54700

Hello all,
Recently I purchased VX2235wm without much prior research about the product, then reading up several monitor reviews I've come to understand that vx2025wm is a much superior monitor to which I should exchange. But all of a sudden vx2035wm appears which I have NO idea how it fits into Viewsonic's lines. Does it mean VX2035wm is even better than vx2025???
Reading up this thread I know I'm in the right place to get any help. Although most of the things I've been reading on your thread is pretty new to me in concept, I could kinda follow along. Could anybody be able to explain the diffrences, strengths, weaknesses and money saving tips on all these please??? I do light graphic work, photoshop, web surfing, some film editing and lots of document stuff.
Thanks in advance!!! |

Does 16 less degree make vx2035 less desirable? I assume that really matters for either movie viewing or gaming..???
Also, vx2035wm and vx2235wm having the same 1680X1050 resolution, I'm assuming vx2035wm will have better picture quality. Is that right???
Lastly, how come there aren't any reviews on VX2035wm? I combed everywhere and cannot find any decent reviews about it comparing with other products. Is it because it was just released??
Thanks again~
ps. Does any one know if VX2035wm has 8-bit or 6bit?

About the viewing angle: 16 degrees is very small and wouldn't really make a difference unless you were viewing the display from maybe 10 feet or farther away.
Just because something is a higher model number doesn't necessarily mean it's a better display. This is typically the case, but not always, so it's not safe to assume it's better.
You are probably right about why there are no reviews. Makes sense to me, but as with anything there are always other possibilities.
To determine whether the display is 6 or 8 bit, check if it can display 16.2 or 16.8 million colors. |

I'm looking at LCD's now... More than likely a 19-Inch.
Is the wave of computer monitors going WIDE-SCREEN like the HDTV sets? Or does it not matter?
I don't want to spend $200-$250 on a new "square" LCD and end up having all these games made for wide-screen. |

I can't speak about the Samsung but I have the 22" Sceptre. It performs great in Half Life 2 and several racing sims. I upgraded from a 17" CRT so I'm still in awe over its size.
Cons: The DVI cable that comes with it is cheap. I just replaced it with a DVI to HDMI cable & it made a nice improvement. Also it has some backlight bleed but isn't noticeable anywhere except a full black screen.
Edit: Been away for a while - eyes are giving me problems. Anywho...
The HDMI & DVI ports died on my Sceptre. Seems to be a common problem. The RMA was painless though & turn-around was quick. I never got a chance to try the repaired unit - it was stolen in a burglary while still in the box.
I now have a Samsung 245BW & I'm very impressed with its display. It's bright, clear and the text is much better than the Sceptre 22".
