    switchn to SLi

wutsup, im bek new here just introducin dont wana just charge in and ask questions like alota ppl lol

anyway, i need some opinions about switchn to sli, just concerned with power issues since that seems to be one with sli

im runnin an amd 64 3700, 2gb 400mhz ddr ram, ace 580w psu, xfx 7900 gt card

if i throw in another 7900 gt, think it'll give me trouble with the current psu?
which has 18A at 12v, thx

Yes i do, for sli of two of those cards u should have atleast around 28Amps on yur +12v rail and most companies reccommend about 450 watts total power for two 7900gt's in SLI

Being that your PSU puts out 18A and 17A on the dual +12V rails and has plenty of wattage, it should work well in an SLI setup.

yeah he didn't post enough of the specs

"Ace Power 580UB puts out 32A on the +3.3V line, 38A on the +5V and 18A and 17A respectively on the two +12V rails."

    that should be fine

That really depends on which rails the cards will draw their power from. It wasn't until reciently that dual+ rail PSU's started using different rails for the two cards.

This review will shed light on the issue. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...1932947,00.asp
