Hi
I am buying new AGP graphic card and I am considering buying Nvidia Geforce 6600GT. I have Gigabyte K8NS motherboard, AMD Sempron 3100+ processor and 512 MB RAM. Will I be able to run this graphic card with those specs? How is this graphic card? Is installation of this card simple (just plug it in) so I can do it myself or is this any more complicated procedure?
Thanks for the replies. |

You can run the graphics card fine. It's a good card just not very powerfull by todays standards. It will run all of today's games, but some of the newer, more demanding games will have to be run at reduced settings. Then again, with only 512MB of ram, you wouldn't be able to run games at much higher than low settings regardless of your video card.

I would ask another thing. Which version is better? Leadtek Winfast version or Sparkle version? |

Ok cool. How about the installation? Do I just plug it in? I read somewhere that you must plug it with some cable somewhere? Is this true? It is said to have it's own power plug so you need some free molex connector. Where is this on the motherboard? I am quite a noob btw.

You would have to put the graphics card in the AGP slot and then plug in the molex power connector from the PSU into the back of the graphics card to give it power. Then of course you would have to connect the graphics card to your monitor. Then, you flip on your PC and install the drivers. Restart your PC after the installation is complete and you should be all set! |

Ok bro thanx. But now I am a little concerned about my PSU. It's Chieftec GPS 300AB-100L and I think it's 300W. Will this be enough? |

Will this be enough? | It's not exactly one of the best brands, and the wattage isn't too high so it will be a risky move if you decide to keep that PSU. But, it should run everything fine as long as it doesn't get too hot. |

Little update. I bought the AGP 6600GT Geforce and it is a great card. I installed it with no problem at all. My Chieftec 300W runs it fine for now. The only problem is the very loud fan. I have a question. I checked the temperatures with Everest program and I got the 56 degrees C temperature for my GPU. Is this too high? |
