| Dual monitor with Radeon Xpress 200.
I have the above graphics on my computer which is uncannily similiar to this one:- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00596705
A bit more info here:- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00378480
Anyway, I believe the graphics 'supports' two monitors although I
can see a 'slight problem' in that there is only one place to plug in a
monitor
So.....what do I need to do... I guess I need to but something and
stick in in the computer somewhere?
So can anyone help me out there, what do I buy, I assume I need some
sort of graphics card or something but I don't know what do buy, basically
I have not got a clue about graphics cards and such like so bare than
in mind if you reply. Throwing loads of 3 letter acronyms at me will
probably leave me looking something similar to this
So a link to something suitable would be much appreciated, I assume there is
enough info in the links provided so save you having to ask me questions
I have no clue about
I currently have one 'bog standard' 14" CRT monitor and I want to add a
bigger (19"?) flat panel monitor wich will have a slightly higher max resolution
Like this one, for example:- http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...ory_oid=-27763
I tried to find the answer out myself but I just got more and more baffled
I am sure there is a fairly simple answer and I would apreciate it if some
wise one could provide it!!
TIA |

Either buy a PCI or a PCI exp16 video card. With the PCI it will probably ( not sure ) work with the onboard. PCI is old tech though.
The best way is to get a good PCI-exp16 vid card, It will come with 2 places to plug in your monitors and will work for sure. |

If that first link is your PC, then you have a PCI-Express x 16 slot in your motherboard. You also have 3 PCI slots. You will need to purchase a GFX card with 2 connections(today almost every GFX card has 2 connections).
Also, you will need to check the GFX card to see whether it has 2 DVI ports or 1 DVI and 1 VGA. Ur CRT is VGA, and ur 19" may have DVI support. Either way, you could always use 2 VGA connections with a DVI-VGA adapter which often comes with a GFX card.
newegg.com is a good place to purchase cards. You can find a Geforce 6200 for around 35$ which can support dual moniters and will give you improved graphics performace as well. Or you could opt for more expensive cards. |

mean I need only buy a single connector card, which I presume will be cheaper. |

No , like these, those are cases. Most video cards have 2 places to hook up monitors. As for 2 on you present set up, I've never heard of 2 monitors with onboard graphics only. You will have to add a Video card, either PCI or PCI Expressx16. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ice=&maxPrice= |

The onboard graphic's is only single monitor set-up. You would have to add a video card to your existing setup. If that is the correct listing for your computer you linked to then you have a pci-e slot and would have to go with a pci-e video card with the dual monitor ports. There are a great number of video cards with dual ports but pending on what you plan to do with the computer and how much $$$'s you want to spend on a card. |
