Voodoo 4/4500 Driver Questions
Greetings... borrowed a Voodoo 4/4500 from a friend to play with. Couple of Questions- what drivers you guys using? I tried to download 1.08 for WinME from www.Guru3d.com and cant access the files (must be down). I found version 1.07 and installed but am having some probs- there is no control panel for the Voodoo and when I try to run 3DMark2001, it crashes.
Wanting to draw on the Voodoo lovers experience here at TIMO, what do you guys use and where do you get them from. My OS is WinME... Thanks All!

UpDate- I installed version 1.04 and have the control panel, but when I try to run 3DMark2001, I crash big time now, have to hard boot. Same when I try to run games. Ideas?
Update: Found driver Version 1.08 and installed... able to run games, but 3DMark2001 still crashes. Does 3DMark2001 Support Voodoo's? I looked at madonion and see nothing to the contrary... Ideas Please...

It's been awhile now, but when I had my Voodoo 3 I remember that loading drivers was a pain.
This is how I remember things going:
When loading drivers for the first time, install drivers- then install 3dfx tools. (3dfx tools come with the drivers)
When updating drivers- you need to remove all traces of them from the system, including the registry key.
(Also, remove 3dfx tools)
Then, load the updated drivers and re-install 3dfx tools.
I never ran 3DMark2001 on that system, so I can't help you there.
Also, I always got my drivers from: www.3dxtreme.org
I haven't been there for awhile, so I don't know what versions are still there.
Just my 2 cents worth,
R.I.P 3dfx...

Greetings... 3dExtreme is where I found the 1.08 drivers. I installed as directed and am experiencing little bugs aside from 3DMark01. In Half Life, my health numbers in lower left and ammo status in lower right are all fuzzed together, but the rest of the game looks GREAT! I am hoping to get this Voodoo to work, as the Visuals look great so far.
Still unable to run Smoothly and with 3DMark01, I am able to load it and adjust settings, but as soon as I hit BenchMark, the screen goes blank and I freeze. Also, when exiting games, it goes real slow and dogs.
Omega? How bout a link or a little more info?

The Omega's are 3rd party drivers, you can get them over at: www.voodoofiles.com on page 2 of the 3rd party drivers area.
Also, I remember having to tweak my bios for optimal performance with the 3dfx drivers- have you tried that?
I'll look around and see if I still have that info around here somewhere, otherwise you could try Google for "3dfx tweaks".

I'm using the last official 3dfx beta (1.04.01) on Win98. No 3rd party drivers were good enough for me. There was always a problem somewhere.
I remember reading something about 3dmark crashing with a certain version of VIA 4 in 1 driver. This must have been repaired since, but I haven't run 3dmark for quite a while.
