HDR on x800

Hi, I have been the happy owner of a 6600GT for a long while now and I have just ordered an x800xt. Some may think this a strange choice of upgrade as I am going from a SM3 card to SM2. I got the new card for an absolute bargain so am fine with that. I have searched the net for info on using HDR on the card and have had conflicting info. I would be really grateful if someone could clear this up for me. Are you able to use HDR on the x800xt? I understand that true HDR is SM3 only but I have read of SM2 versions of it and seen a workaround for Tomb Raider Legends using SM2. I would like to know if I will be able to have HDR running on Half Life 2 Ep1 (All source engine games really like the new Might and Magic) and whether upcoming games will not support SM2 versions of HDR. Any info would be really apreciated. Thanks, Dan.

Thanks for the link, was interesting. It says that the x800xt is supported for being able to create HDR but will it be producing the same results on Half Life 2 Ep1 as say a geforce 7800 card? Are you able to far Cry with HDR on an x800? I'm just trying to find out if the x800 will look the same, give a cut down result, or not be able to produce HDR at all with games that have only just been coded. Thanks, Dan.
