XFX GeForce 7600GS AGP 8X 256MB crashes in Second Life

I recently installed a new Graphics card (XFX GeForce 7600GS AGP 8X 256MB DDR2).I got this new card in order to play the online game Second Life. SL runs much smoother and the environment seems to load a lot faster, however, I get random crashes where the system freezes, the screen goes black, the sound goes and then after a minute or so my computer will reboot, if I don't restart it first. I followed the usual measures when installing the card. I uninstalled my old drivers, turned off my virus scanner, and I've made sure that my BIOS settings corresponded to the new hardware. And I followed the directions on the NVidia web sit for installing the new driver. I also flashed to the latest BIOS-(CI8E1013) and installed the latest chip set drivers for my Asus MB.
I don't have any other games installed on this computer, so I don't know if I'd crash doing something other than playing SL. Sometimes I can be in SL for several hours before things black out and freeze, other times just a few minutes.
Is there a particular set of drivers that I should install in order to do SL?
The system runs just fine other than this SL crash problem.
I also downloaded a free Graphics stress test and ran it for an hour without any problems.
I posted this problem to the forums at Second Life, but didn't get any solutions.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
    Thx in advance
    Ethan

Uhhh....where did you get the graphics stress test?

    What antivirus are you using?

When you have trouble, always downgrade the graphics driver.

I downloaded "Video Card Stability Test" from http://freestone-group.com/.
    I'm using Trend Micro PC-cillin.
I will try some older drives now.
    thanks

Usually the drivers that come with the card aren't the best drivers. Try downloading the latest drivers from nvidias website. If that doesnt do it, it could mean other issues also.

3 things usually cause your symptoms: overheating, underpowered, or drivers.

I would think your PSU is sufficient, Antec makes good PSU's. If grahpics test run fine, i doubt its overheating....

Sometimes certain people just have bad luck with certain games.... Are there any patches out for the game?

As Him said, make sure you have the latest drivers from nvidias site.

I have an Innovision 7600GS and found this posting regarding XFX and Innovision 7600's....

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/582481.html

I even went out and bought an Antec Truepower 550watt PS so I could run BF2 and Company of Heroes and still get lockups and reboots.
I haven't tried unplugging the power supply to the video card yet, though...

    Good luck,

    Sel
