Quad SLI.. but for older games?

Quad SLI is now being supported by Nvidia, woot, old news.

The real question I have is... Is it possible to disable quad SLI or even the 7950 dual gpu cards "SLI" and run just a single gpu off that card? Im just wondering for backwards compatability in old games where you arent running them in 2024x1600 16xaf, 16xaa...

If you have a 7950 card, please check your settings for me and see if you can disable one of the cores so it functions as one card solely.

if the game isnt compatible, such as an old dx8 game that cant detect a videocard.

and yes, some games, emulators, etc will not run efficiently on a dual card system.
