| AGP 7800 BFG - Power Supply Question
Hi ,
I would like to know whether it is possible for a power supply to be a factor in over all PC performance and mainly if there would be a possiblity that there would be no full performance pushed out by the graphics card?
i.e. will the graphics performance perhaps be slugish, causing drop or skippnig of frames , at various moments ?

300w most likely won't be able to power a 7800, it would cause your program to freeze up. |

Hi,
Okay, well I am running fine at the moment , thing is i do get beeps from my Graphics Card speaker when i am in certain screeens during gaming, and also when i encode using virtual dub, most likely because cpu power is being chowed up big time and therefore the power is less for the card.
I can confirm the beep are from the GFX Card and not the Mobo because i have unplugged my Mobo Spkr.
Anyways, can you maybe tell me more then....now that you know i am not freezing up and stuff...
BAsically my plan is to buy a 500 watt Eurocase power supply. So that is what I should have mentioned in the first place.
Question still remains if you like to give me explination, please.
Thanks again,
ItC |

If your computer isn't getting enough power there should be many inconsistencies in the way it runs, but particularly when it's working hard. |

I'd highly reccomend not getting that PSU. I've never heard of that name, and it sounds generic, which isnt good w/ power supplies. Look at this thread for more info on PSUs: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t124252.html |

Do you have a specific site you want to order from?
If ur in the US, newegg.com is proly the best site to order from. If you want, people here could give you a few suggestions at the best performers for least cost.
EDIT: Its sort of dangerous what you are doing, running a 7800, and multiple drives on a 300Watt PSU. Theres chance that PSU could die taking along a few of your other components.
