| Need advice on graphics card for Dell Dimension 3000
I currently have a Dell Dimension 3000 and want to upgrade my graphics card. I have searched the internet and found out that my computer can only have PCI graphics cards, and have found a graphics card that i think would work. It is a GeForce FX5200 PCI Graphics Card (link).
Would this work on my computer? Also, is it a good graphics card? |

The PCI-based video cards are quite sadly not the way to go when it comes to gaming. Though, it depends; what games do you intend to play when you

Though, it does have plentiful memory and supports DirectX 9.0, it won't have enough of the "horsepower" to handle today's games (such as those new first-person shooters everyone's hyped about). The performance from this card will do nicely in older games with less graphical-demand.
My question to you, what games do you intend to play if you do get this card installed?

Thanks for helping me out. The games i mostly play is Flight Simulator and Rollercoaster Tycoon, and im getting bored of how slow it is getting. I also want to upgrade to Windows Vista next year and found out that you need at least 128 mb of memory, and so im wondering if this would be good enough to run vista? |

No prob! Flight Simulator and Roller Coaster Tycoon will run great with that card. Maxed out in graphical settings perhaps if you will.
128mb of video memory for vista? Of course. You've got twice that in the card so you'll do fine in that area of video requirements.
The only thing thats on my mind is that the Dell Diemension 3000 is probably one of those low-end models, probably with an OK processor and around 256-512MB RAM. I don't know too much about Vista (never tried the beta download releases) so I don't know much about what is required for it, and I think its going to be twice as demanding for resources than XP will. o_o

Thanks alot for your help. I'll go out and buy that graphics card soon. I am also going to buy 2gb of ram that ive checked will work for my dimension and so that should be enough for Vista.
Thanks again for your help.

Ive just bought the graphics card and installed it without a hitch. Ive noticed a major difference in how smooth my games play even when i play them with the full graphical capabilities.
I no this isnt the forum for memory but i'll ask anyway. Will this 2gb RAM memory i found on ebay ( link) work with my Dimension 3000? |

| Graphics card question???
I also have a dimesioin 3000, and have updated a few things, and currently have small issues playing my game World of Warcraft. I have talked to other gamers on my realm and they have advised to update the graphics/video card. I was just wondering if it'd be worth updating the card, or just purchasing a whole new CPU, althought that is not what I wanna do since I have updated most of it. I currently have an outdated version of NVIDIA. and dont really have problems, with the gaming part, just issues with addons that i wanna download, such as Gamecam. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
