Help! Voodoo 5 5500 VS K7SEM problem

Hi.
I have a ECS K7SEM Board, (with onboard Video) and I try to install a Voodoo 5 5500 on it.
I'm able to run it as long as I stay in 16colors 640*480, If i try to push it colors or resolution, I have to restart my PC and while restarting my screen goes off (light turn orange instead of green)
on the cmos setup, I have set the boot video to AGP slot (other choice is onboard) I tried to select PCI slot instead of APG for the video boot order.... Doesn't change a thing.
I reinstalled windows fron scratch to be sure there is no drivers conflict.
What else can I do? ? ? ?

ECS K7SEM board
Athlon 1ghz
196mg PC100
Voodoo 5 5500
SBlive
Windows 98 (not SE)
Please help me somebody

Sounds like your video drivers are not installed right.
Does all look well in the controll panel?

Have you tried not rebooting and applying the changes? The voodoo 5 and win 98 have no issues.
This is from the tech support guys there, found by looking in their knowledge base. This board is on teh Sis 730 chipset and,
"This board will only support NVidia chipset AGP card, it will have problem with ATI card."

Looks like that rules out 3dfx too I have a voodoo 5 and love it, maybe you have another mobo around?

Ok, after more looking support says that you MUST go into safe mode and remove all previously installed drivers, otherwise windows will not delete the dlls. Then you can reboot and install the new card. This was for a voodoo 3 AGP card, hope things work out.
edit: Keep that BIOS on AGP too. Here is the link, you can poke aroudn their knowledge base if you please.

No I've no spare mobo.
I've already tried the Safe-mode card removal
Reading the thread from the link, I saw something. Before my Voodoo5, I had a SB Blaster Banshee (Voodoo2 based card) and I had the same problem as the first from the thread (mouse is a big square with flashing pixels in it...) and now my voodoo5 does the same as the other problem from the thread (dead screen)
So I took a RV with the guy who sold me the mobo (I'll mail him the link for the thread you sent me before to go there).

P.S. I didn't try only the safe mode removal, all suggestions (except hardware) have been tested.
