Problems installing Nvidia 6800 Xtreme
Have just received my new Nvidia 6800 XTreme graphics card and have tried installing it into my Packard Bell imedia 1308. I have removed all the sis graphics card components (I think), but when I try to start the PC after installation I get a high pitched whining noise and the PC doesn't start. I have to turn it off at the mains too. Any ideas?

ummm... Welcome to TechIMO
What is the card an AGP slot or a PCI-Express slot? Did you make sure that your board has a PCI-Express slot if you do in fact have PCI-Express. Remember PCI and PCI-Express are two different slots that look very similar. Does the card require extra power from the PSU? If so is it plugged in?Mobile: Thinkpad T61 | WinXP Pro | C2D T8300 CPU | 3GB DDR2 | 320GB Hybrid SSD HDD | AGN & WWAN
Desktop: Dell XPS 8300 | 3.4 Ghz Intel i7 | 8GB DDR3 | 1TB OS, 1.5TB Mirrored DATA

Thanks for your reply
It's an AGP card and it seemed to fit fine into the AGP slot. There is a card in the PCI slot, which I assume is the factory fitted SiS card. I tried installing the Nvidia with the other card left in, and with it taken out, but the end result was the same.
The card came with a bunch of wires but no instructions as to what they do, or where they go. It did not come with any kind of power cable.
The other factor I neglected to mention is that I've also just increased the RAM by 512mb and after putting in the new RAM the sound has stopped working on the PC. Don't know if the two things are related though.
