I assumed Nvidia had this option in its driver property settings, I know ATI does. Do you know if its only .WMV videos youre having trouble with or .MPG and .AVI as well?

Yes it happens with all videos...
Something wierd I've just noticed is when I run the video I get 100% CPU usage and slowdown. As soon as I hit [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] and hit task manager, the video runs normally behind task manager. It seems once the CPU has been interupted, it frees itself and plays normally.

Have you tried reinstalling your motherboard drivers since you have been changing out your video drivers? If you are a running a Asus board, give the Nforce all in one drivers a try. Make sure you restart after the installation.

Also, were you running an ATI card before this card? You should run Driver Cleaner Pro (freeware app i believe) to delete any ATI driver entries.

I think Driver Cleaner Pro will be your best bet. If clearing any ATI entries and a reboot doesnt fix your problem, try the Nforce driver install.

Ok i did an ATI driver clean, and it found about 10-15 files.
The other drivers are going to take about an hour to finish, so I haven't restarted yet.
I've gotta go out now, but I'll pick up where I left off, and post back my results.

Hey all, first post! I have the exact same problem as the original poster and same video card. Also previously had an ATI card (9800 Pro). I've had this problem for months now and just work around it, the way i do that is going into control panel and disabling the Nvidia card and re-starting. Video plays fine when the card is disabled. It's getting annoying though and my search brought me here. I've used the Cat-uninstaller thinking i most likely had some conflicting video card drivers fighting for who gets the right to play my videos!
Soo just wondering if the OP ever got this figured out???? I'm going to read back up through the post and see if any of those tips help me out.

Same Problem
I just got the same card upgraded from the same raedon. Same beautiful problem as you seem to have. My games, desktop, and general programs run flawlessly, but when i start up my media...All hell breaks loose to the point where i have to ctrl+alt+delete(wait 20 mins while it pops up) end the process of the media player i am using(wait another 20 mins while it is clicking on the right process) and end it(another long wait). I tried the codec that was suggested earlier in the fourm and am tring the asus chipset now(i also have a asus motherboard). Just adding in my problem as well ;p

having trouble finding updated drivers for my mobo from DFI. the main issue is they no longer sell (or seemingly support) this particular Infinity 865PE board. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

Damn, I got my media applications running, now my games load up with blank screens!
Thinking I should take out the vid card and reinstall, now that I have updated my mobo drivers?
