As long as your video card supports the wide screen resolutions, you should be fine. The problems come when you start playing games or using apps that don't support the wide screen resolutions. The picture will either be stretched, won't show, or you will have black bars on the sides.
You should be alright though...I use dual 24 inches at work.

Plus you have to make sure your gfx card is up to the task for gaming, since widescreen monitors resolution start at 1440 x 900 and go up.... |

True that the widescreens are the same price or sometimes less than their 4:3 counterparts. What kept me from going widescreen is that the 19" wide is about as tall as the 17" standard - the measurement is taken on the diagonal. For DVD viewing or to just get more screen width in Windows applications is a plus but I'm sticking with the standard format for now. |

Everyone I've heard of getting a widescreen has been happy with the decision.
And, I hear they are sexy. That's why I put duct tape on the top and bottom of my 4:3 screen. |

I agree. I could have had a 20" widescreen for about the same price as a 19" standard.
I just didn't like the lack of height on the widescreen sitting on my desk. The 20" monitor "felt" and looked small compared to the 19". |
