6:9 Desktop

I was in a office and they had a large 37"or 40" something inches TV. It looked good but it was had a 16:9 display aspect ratio and the Windows desktop that showed on it was 4:3 where the sides where choped off. I plan on getting a larger screen, something around 40" inches. I don't want my dispaly to do that where the sides are choped off I want the desktop to fill the whole 16:9 aspect ratio of the TV dispaly. What features must a video have to do that.

odd... i have a widescreen monitor.. nothing as major as that... but the sides aren't chopped off... they might have it not setup right... maybe they needed to adjust the monitor or there display settings...

my monitor said to run it at 1440X900 for best results..

just settings, I have two 16:9 big screen displays .

1 65' HDTV sony (native 480p) display is ok set at 1152 X 648

2 42' HDTV Sceptre (native 1080p)display is the best ,set at 1920 x 1080

I would make sure the display is HDPC ready (HD tuner is a plus)and the native display is atleast 720p
