Hi H3rra. Welcome to TechIMO.
The system memory and the video card memory have nothing to do with each other. The memory on the video card will work just fine in your pc."Retreat, hell! We just got here."

A PCI card can have any type and amount of memory and it won't affect your system memory RAM at all. The memory on the card is seperate from the system RAM. Any kind of memory thats in the PCI card will work once you slap it in a PCI slot. The computer will do the rest of the work. That's all.

Yes, but you would be a lot better off upgrading your whole system. Unless your old video card (well, the onboard graphics system, that is) is dying or dead, then a new one is pretty much a waste of money in that machine.

Thank you all for your help but there's one more thing, I need to get a CD Burner or DVD Burner if possible for this machine. I was wondering if I would need to get a specific one to fit this computer or would any one do which meets the system's requirements?

If I remember correctly, the minium cpu requirement for a cd-r or dvd-r is between 300-450mhz. A new dvd rom should work reading those -r's, it just won't burn them.

well, a basic dvd-rom would be the best bet.. as you wont have to spend alot of money, but you can still get a dvd-+rw for around 20-30$ which you can read and burn cd's or dvd's and still have it for a later upgrade...

For DVD reading, the minimum effort would be a graphics card that has DVD decode assist and (!) at the very least a 233 MHz Pentium MMX with plenty more RAM than this old box here has. This isn't ever going to work with this thing, regardless of how much stuff you sink into upgrades.
Burning DVDs requires from 5 to 20 Gigabytes (!) of free disk space, and this thing has 1.2 total. Not Going To Work. Period.
Overall, I agree with what's been said ... just forget about it, the machine is lacking basically everything, even after a graphics update.

I think a whole new rebuild would be best..... especially for the future.

Spending money on that computer would not be in your best interest. Your better off spending 370$ on a Dell like this:

Or even this Emachine for 260$

Or one of these from newegg:

here you can see a comparison of the 7850 vs GTX 570 (GTX 560 Ti 448 is reduced spec 570, so the 448 Core would be close to the 7850 in performance, if not just behind it a hair): AnandTech |...
