Peter M:
Dot "twinkle" is a sign of poor DVI signal ... something that older NVidia cards are quite notorious for.
But nevermind, LCDs do not "refresh" and hence do not flicker, regardless of the image rate you feed them. 60 Hz is OK, and is actually the recommended setting.
| NOT --- your monitor is cheap...

ok, sorry you have that view, and it seems that i interperate his post far differently than you. I don't believe that he made a direct attack, just Maybe you both should be a little more "thick skinned" and not take such posts to heart.
Wir said he believed his LCD was cheap, you call that "bashing", or really insulting, hmm maybe you should just grow up.

sweeper2, take a look at my Display Properties. Under Advanced Timing, Vertical Lines I had to lower the Refresh Rate to 48Hz. Since you are running 1440x900, I'd start with 58Hz & lower it a few Hz at a time until the "twinkle" clears up. Make sure you have vsync set to Off or Application Controlled or you'll cap your games max FPS. |

Capping the games max FPS is a non-issue, simply because any extra frames per second that get /rendered/ will nonetheless not get /displayed/ ever. Having the display refresh rate set to N Hz (N=60, 75, 85, 58, whatever) means you're sending N frames per second to the display unit - and no matter whether the graphics card renders 60, 61 or 261, you'll always get to see 60.
Disabling Vsync may be helpful when your graphics card can NOT keep up - instead of dropping from steady 60 fps to steady 30, you'll get the frames when they're ready - with better-than-30 framerate, but at an unsteady rate. |

Yes, I called his LCD cheap. Get over it guys. I paid a whopping $170 for mine. You want to get offended because I think Envision is a throwaway brand, go ahead. I sell the stuff for the a living, I sort of know what I'm dealing with.
Such as it is, Peter M (as usual) had an answer for the situation and I was mistaken about the twinkle problem.
There was certainly no reason to start an argument over it, Coolzer and Sweeper, I'm fully capable of explaining myself to offended parties. If Sweeper2 really had a beef with me, I'm sure he would have sent me a PM and discussed it like an adult. |

thanks "Sweeper" for agreeing with me... (of course he will agree... he is my brother.. )
Next up ... Whir... i really didn't think Envision was "cheap" ... I really don't have a beef with anybody... i just went over some LCD's and to be able to afford one... this one was the best choice... with good reviews and specs ...
the best way I guess to avoid anything like this... is just stick to the topic... without throwing in any "remarks" about someones hardware...
but all in all.. let's just toss this thread out.... Whir.. your the MOD .. lock it up.. Please... |
