| Wide Screen t.v. as a monitor?
hi guys, I was just wondering if I should use my dad's 19'' monitor or his flat screen t.v....it's pretty wide...about 3 19'' monitors put together in length and about maybe 21'' in width. I know that computer monitors get better picture quality but I was just wondering...also will this video card work well if I choose the t.v.?is it even compatible? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150157 |

Does the TV (or the monitor) have a DVI socket on it? |

Look at the connectors on the video card picture you linked to. Do you see a similar connector on either the TV or the monitor?
Or you could also post links to the TV and monitor to help people know which ones you are talking about.
The card does have a TV Out connector on it, by the way. But that won't usually get you the best quality picture.

Look at the connections in the back of the TV: Do you see a connection that your moniter cord would connect into?
Either a VGA or DVI connection would work.
What are your choices here? It wasnt too clear in your first post.
1 TV vs. 1 Moniter?
Its a 19" moniter vs. a TV thats around 32", 27", 23"(diagonal)?
And what are your purposes for this PC? Gaming? TV tuner? Media(DVDs)?
And are you sure that you have an AGP slot? |

so if my t.v. has DVI connectors...do I use both slots on the video card or just one?...also...I think I'll get the model today...
yeah...i'm sure my compute rhas a AGP slot...fpantovich helped me through everything xD...but yeah...it's basically a computer monitor vs. widescreen t.v...I watch videos,um...I play Counterstrike:Source...all that jazz but im not a hardcore gamer or anything that is looking for the best picture quality...I just don't want anything really bad xD |

Only one DVI connection. But you may have to buy a DVI cord if you dont have one.
**Also, if you need to hook up a VGA cord to your GFX card, just use the DVI-VGA adapter.
the 6800XT should be good for your cause. I have the same card. Gets good framerates in CS:S and can display the resolutions you need.
If you have a DVI cord, you might as well hook it up to the TV and see how it looks. When playing games, you may have to adjust the screen for the TV.
