Which card, Cant decide.
I have this problem where i don't know what to pick for a video card. My problem is that i don't want to buy something expensive but at the same time i want to have DX10. Now that leaves me with the option of buying a 399 PNY at newegg(Geforce 8800GTS). But I don't want to spend that much money. I already have big time nice components for the rest of my system.
Here are the specs,(i am not including some things because I already have them)
ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6600
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
I am also thinking of grabbing an EVGA 7900GS for the time being, and then selling it or keeping it as a test card for any future problems, but waiting till about the summer to upgrade to a nice new card. I have never spend over 250 dollars for a new video card and I don't want to start. Its just wrong, and there is no DX10 games out there at all and probably wont be for a while, Crysis is not comming out any time soon, and I'm not a very big gamer, just once in a while i like to sit on the pc and play and not worry about having too much time to set up. Plus cant wait for half life 2 ep2
Anyways guys help me decide !!!Theos Ek Mechanes

well the price of cards will change by summer,
that will give you plenty of save up bucks time,
and see what is coming down the pipes for DX10 stuff
Vista will be out, and you can see if itís going to take off,
Or fizzle, that may have a big impact on what happens to DX10,i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?

Yes but do you have any ideas for a 150-250 dollar card? Or should i go all out and get a 8800 or a 7950? I was thinking of something around 180range, nvidia for sure, the other thing is... I have a 430watt antec, good powersupply and i would need to upgrade probably for a 8800...

Well I always sell my old cards, so I get some bucks back,
To use for new card, so if your set on getting a new card,
Then I would get the best you can afford, no since spending
Money on something that is not that much of an upgrade for you,
So get the best, I donít game at all, so as for what card, I have no
Idea, I can only help on the logic thinking for upgrade,
Antec has a scale on there website that tells you what power supply
Would be good for your rig, tells you what wattage you will use and need,i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?

I've picked out a geforce 7950GT for 215 and the 8800GTS for 399 at newegg. Now My question is. Will I even need a 8800 for the games today? I can only play at 1280x1024 on my 19inch lcd. Is it worth pay the extra 200bucks for the 8800gts just to get super great framerate or save the 200 dollars and upgrade to something greater this summer?Theos Ek Mechanes

The 7900GS is good mid-range choice that will save you some money.
Especially AR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150208
It will play Fear, Oblivion, BF2142 just fine. No reason to spend too much on a DX9 card especially if you arent gaming to much.

I think I'm gonna go with the 7950GT because i can get one at newegg from evga for 215 dollars and a 15 dollar mail in rebate, thats mighty better deal than that XFX.
