HARD DECISION

should i go with the new 8800 GTX's or wait till the new ATI comes out and get 2 of them? Or is there going to be another one coming out soon after the ATI? Also any REALLY good motherboards coming out that are better than the 680i Line? Any enthusiast try out or hear any good things about the Quad farther? 4 x 4. One more thing, Any new Intel Quadcore going to make a new release anytime soon thats is STOCK 3.0+ and whts the highest and fastest memory timing you people have seen thats or or coming out also? Also as of now im getting the Dell 30" LCD. If theres any other LCD better thats out or coming out please tell me! The date that im going to order the parts will be around maybe april/may-ish somewhere around there. Im also talking hard drives, optical drives, cases, soundcards, PPu's, heatsinks, cooling systems (FANS) etc...

Im trying to build the ULTIMATE PC that will be future poof for only 2-3 months. LOL! but i will still have top dog shit. I will just upgrade when I need to.

Your not getting alot of responses because its basically fruitless to ask about anything even a week or 2 ahead of time...
Truth is, things change too drastically over a short period of time, and when it comes to technology, its virtually impossible to predict much at all...
Rule of thumb, save up as much as possible, and simply buy the best you can afford...
Ask a couple days before your actually going to purchase, and forget about "future proofing" ...

Yes i understand every word of what you said! Except like all i wanted answered was what you thought about the 4x4 quad farther and so on. If its any good or if u read some good and bad responces... Than i wanted to know about is theres going to be any motherboards on the same line as the 680i... With the money i am spending $4,000-$5,000 on a new one. Why? Well I want to have the best i can get as of now than add on from there. At least i know i have a good motherboard and memory to support anything else that comes out. Plus if i need any new memory or a new motherboard i will sure get it.

Well best of the best, as of now, is the Asus Stryker...
Quad core will be nice, but as of now, there is little enough support for multi core threading in most software and games...
There isnt an real "bad" reviews od quad cores, but theres also little to go on...
Wait and see is the only option, I know I don't want to be the guinea pig...
get the lowest latency, highest speed mem at that time, etc... etc.... etc...
raid Raptors, and a perpendicular style hard drive for storage...blah blah blah
theres a dozen threads with dream machine suggestions...

I'm always telling people to not go "FULL BORE" on their builds; technology changes too fast.

I suggest getting a good solid case and PSU. These are the foundattion of your build; now AND into the future. These days, socket 775 and Intel Dual Core Duo are the way to go. I saved some bucks going with the "slow" (yeah right) E6300 1.8Ghz chip. 1 meg of RAM will get you by for a while too.

I went with midrange ATI X1950 Pro GPU...should last me a while. I didn't spend a lot of money on this build and have left myself room to upgrade every component in it as new technology arrives/drops in price.

Not only that, but when I DO upgrade, I'll take components out of this case and build another PC. So for one price, I feel like I'm getting 3 PC's: the original build and its usage time, the new upgraded computer and the pieces/parts computer I build from the original.

What type of PSU are you going to run on that system?

I'd recommend something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151027

Will have more than enough power for that system with enough to spare for a 2nd 8800GTX if you decide to go SLI.

I bet it will.

The one you would buy now would be plenty powerful for a long time, and the one you buy in 2-3 years will be far more powerful than a $5,000 system today most likely.

Very nice! That PSU looks like a beast.
