    Watching TV on my computer.

In Windows 98SE version 4.10.2222a there was a program in the Windows Setup called "WebTV for Windows" and another called "Wave Top" that was also part of the Windows Setup. With those programs installed and my Zoltrix TV Max card I was able to hook my cable television signal to the computer and watch tv on my 21" NEC monitor. In Windows 2000 and Windows XP these programs are gone. I have the latest Zoltrix drivers installed on both programs and the programs recognize the card with no conflicts. I have tried "DScaler" and "WinDVR" with only partial success in 2000Pro and no success at all in XP Pro with getting TV to actually play. In 2000 it gets the audio but not video.

    Any ideas on other programs?
Any instructions on the ones I have? (Their websites are a little short and vague on explicit instructions!)

I dont believe "Wave Top" was ever a part of the windows install files. Possible something added in by your computer or TV card manufacturer. WebTV for Windows was a part of the windows install, however . . . ( but I dont think it had anything to do with watching TV on your computer with a tuner card )

I can only think to try going to the website for the manufacturer of your TV card and getting software from there, perhaps trying the installation disk that originally came with the TV card.

Wrong on all counts! Wave Top Broadcasting is in Windows 98 Second Edition and Web TV is the TV capture software.

A little rough on Inanis wasnt you?

    Try here

    Here is what MS says:

WebTV Icon Missing After Upgrading Windows 98 to Windows 2000 (Q228205)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

    Microsoft Windows 2000 , Professional

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade your Windows 98-based computer to Windows 2000, the Microsoft WebTV icon is no longer on the taskbar. Also, the WebTV component remains visible in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel , but you can only remove this component.

    CAUSE
This issue occurs because Windows 2000 Setup removes this icon. This occurs because Windows 2000 does not support or include the WebTV tool.

    STATUS
    This behavior is by design.

And you are right, it was built into 98 but you had to manually install it....

Have you tried the new win2k beta WDM drivers from the zoltrix site? Windvr should work with any WDM driver and Dscaler mentions that they do support your tv card but, that you may need to manually setup the card name\type in the dtv application.

If that does not work, you could try using the WinTV XP drivers from Hauppauge. Link

You are right, I was a little hard and I apologize. Inanis, I am sorry.

Cocoman, jman, I will give those options a whirl. Thanks for the replies.
