| 8600 GTS - Weird lines on Vista aero
Whenever I switch my theme to Aero I get a load of weird lines over the whole screen, in basic it works perfectly fine unless I am viewing a picture - if I do that the lines show up just over the picture but only when using the windows picture viewer. not paint or anything else I have tried so far. Also when playing games..I get lines over my whole screen if I do that. My 8600 GTS graphics card had been installed and running aero fine for about 2 hours and my screen suddenly became corrupted with the lines. I'm posting this on these forums because I don't know whether it's a problem with the graphics card or vista, so I have posted in the Vista forums as well. I have tried reinstalling all the drivers and going back to older drivers with the same results. I also plugged my monitor into the second output on the graphics card but it made no difference. I don't know what to do, repair Vista? Return the graphics card? Create a partition and install xp to see if it has any problems with games? Any help would be great, thanks. |

I get those kind of things also, but mine happen on login and when a program requires administrator approval...
I think it's the nVidia Drivers, and there isn't a fully stable version yet for Vista.
I don't have an 8000 series card though, only a 7900. BUT - exact same problem.
Hopefully it gets fixed in a future driver release. Hard to tell when though.

I am asking the selling for a replacement now - it isn't vista because I just went onto XP and loaded up a game and it did exactly the same thing. |
