I went and picked up the 7600 GT $130. I got this to avoid having to get a new power supply.
Lets see how she does.

That's a very good upgrade from your 5900. It will play WOW nicely.

The FPS was not as big of an improvement as I was hoping, but at least now I can play at max settings instead of low when I am out in outlands.
What was surprising is that the 7600GT does not need an external power hookup and it draws less power according to Everest.
Plus its smaller, quieter, and cooler.
With the $50 Gift card it came out to $80 + Tax. |

Cool. They also overclock well. You could try that to squeeze a little more out of the game. |

Yeah, I was just talking to Whir about overclocking it in WoW.
I need to get it to line up with my case though. Right now I am running it with no screw to support it. If I get it to where I get it screwed down, the back of the card pops out of the slot.
Gonna either have to mod my case or the video card bracket. |

That's odd. Are you sure it's seated completely in the slot? You could always put some small washers under the bracket to help fill the space. |

There is no space between the bracket and the case, its just that the screw hole does not line up. |

The 7600 will give you enough framerate for 1280 x 1024 to run around ~40
FPS turning down AA..
At least mine does that with and AMD 64+ 3200 |
