| Worth upgrading AGP graphics card?
I have a P4 Prescott 3.4GHz/1M/800, 1gDDR.
And a Geforce 6200, AGP, 256 DDR.
My question is, do you think it's worth the money to upgrade the graphics card to a 7800 GS or 7600 GT??? around $200-$300. Or will the 800FSB or memory speed become a bottle neck??
Obviously the new card will make a difference. the question is, will it be worth it?....
thx in advance
PS. Have a more powerful 64bit Althon, 7800GT PCIE, just trying for some LAN action at home yew! thx again |

In my opinion any agp card is worth upgrading
Look up the specs of those cards (Core/memory and such and pay attention to the details, especially power requirements for psu. Check that urs fulfill that requirement, it's very important.
If the 7800 gs is better and u can afford it, i would suggest u get that one. But make sure ur psu will run it! |

You will certainly see a nice improvement if you get something like a 7600GT or better. My P4 3.4GHz ran great with 1GB of ram & a 6800Ultra. I did all my gaming at 1280x1024 & everything was very smooth. After I upgraded my monitor to a 1680x1050 widescreen I saw my framerates drop though. |

funny enough i am in the same boat as u are in... I have An ancient rig Socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5gb 400mhz ram, and a CRAPPY ASS Geforce 6200 which i hate... I am still contemplating on wheter i should get a Fast AGP 8x card like the x1950gt which will allow me to play all my games, or to new get a MOBO with PCI-e for socket 754 (LOL, i can't believe they even have these) and slap on a DX 10 card on it. |
