well i got a new powersupply and that didn't help. the driver issue did come to mind since i forgot to uninstall the old one but i dont think the driver would just not work (think about having a system that had windows on it yet - would the grpahics card not work then?). The motherboard isa Asus A8N - SLI - SE http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-A8N-SLI-S.../dp/B000CRR4HI.
Someone was talking about a 6pin connector instead of a molex - on my card its is a molex (4pin - same as the one you put into the hard drive and dvd rom) this is my card http://www.powercolor.com/eng/produc...?ProductID=516
i sent backthe card and the replacement is coming in a week but im gonna pop own to circuit city and get a cheap one to test. If it isnt the graphics card i can only think it would be the processor which i damaged when putting it in the new motherboard. Does anyone know if u can load the bios without a working processorr?

| That's probably your problem. Also, make sure you don't have any anti-virus or spyware monitoring software running in the background.

POST beep codes? Take everything out but one stick of RAM and the video card and see if you can get to POST. Be sure the RAM and vid card are properly seated.

well when i took my old processor out, i bent the pins, so i got a pen (metal) and pushed them back inline. if i connect one or more pins together, with it short-out the processor. if it does, then i think the processor is done - i got a new card from circuit city, and that didn't work. so it wasnt the graphics card i feel (however the new card was a pci not a pci-express) and the motherboard has power, so im pretty sure its just the processor. but shouldnt the bios load anyway? |

If you bent a pin on your processor, then tried to fix it, consider it toast. I highly doubt you used an antistatic wrist strap and then used a random metallic object (pen in your case) to straighten it. You need to start with a new processor as the above post mentions. Most likely you have caused a short or some kind in one of the two bends which is causing a problem. In addition, depending on the damage done to your processor, it might have further damaged your mobo.
Start with replacing those two and as above, good luck! |

Yeah, on my card the socket where the extended power cable goes into is a six pin, similar to pci-e connections.from that six pin it runs to two 4-pins. Anyway, it seems like u damaged those other two pieces of hardware. but before u take any drastic measures in buying new ones, why not take ur pc to connection city so they can troubleshoot it for u? Maybe they can find out exactly what's wrong and how to fix it without u maybe spending a whole lot of unnecisarry cash. Then let us all know how u do.
A molex looks different from those connections to a hard drive. It's not a big 4pin block, but a smaller very flat connction with seven connection points like those u would see in a usb connection. It's not the same as usb though either.

oh, well i mean the 4pin block. i sent back my card and brought a whole new kit. I now have a quad core, 4 gb of ram, a p965 platinum motherboard and the same graphics card. they are all arriving today. I got mwave.com to assemble and test the board and processor before they gave it to me so i know that wont be the problem. i also got a coolmax 600w power supply (i know people don't like coolmax but the reviews were positive) and hopeful in a few hours i will have a working pc...hopefully |
