    TV Out is kinda lacy

     
    Hey I gotta Nvidia 8800gtx and Im outputting it to a 42" hdyv. Looks amazing. This is my new gaming display along with a wireless mouse and keyboiard for ultimate laziness but anyway, some movies that I do tv out look lacy and others dont. I use vlc media player and even adjusting the de-interlace sometimes doesnt help. I did have this problem with my old standard 480i tv, so i know its not the tv. Anyone have any ideas?

    Yes. SVideo or Composite TV-out is interlaced. Movie transfers often enough are only 24 frames per second, no interlacing anyway, and look much better than TV-ish transfers that are 60 fps interlaced.

    The solution? Use a DVI or HDMI connection over to your new big TV to give it an adequate signal to do its job right.

    Well OK then ... in that case you may be experiencing just how bad some DVD transfers actually are.
