Radeon 3850 Best Mid-Range Card

AMD-ATI have been getting a lot of crap lately, with their components falling behind. It seems to be overlooked that ATM the Radeon HD 3850(DX 10.1 supported) is by far the best mid-range graphics card. At a price of 180$, it outperformed the 8600GTS by a good margin.

It outperforms the 8800GTS 640MB in Bioshock at all resolutions.
Being the card was just released, I can only assume that future drivers will boost performance as well.

The card can be found at Dell for 160$.

Although, as everyone should be aware: In a few months time, an 8800GT should be available at <200$. But atleast for the holidays, realize that the HD 3850 is a great buy to consider.

Yep, the 3850 is a pretty dang good deal. I really like it because it fills the gap between the $120 cards and the $250 cards.

Update:

The Bioshock benchmarks obviously are the best for the new Radeons. But those are DX9 benchies in my link.
At AnandTech you will find the DX10 benchies in which the 8800GT outperforms the HD 3870.


Again, for anyone who reads this: In a month or two, this thread will be useless since price drops and new cards may arise. Simply wanted to point out that AT THE MOMENT, the new Radeons are good buys.
