Yes, it's only a 256MB. If you notice in the higher resolution portion of the tests, it still beats the 512MB. That's where the 512MB card should really show it's strength.

The XFX card is very reliable and carries a lifetime warranty if anything should happen. That should hold you just fine until you can afford to get an 8800 series card.

yep mate! i hope so... infact i've been waiting for the "high end" variant ever since the 6 series! the 6800GTX was a dream card a year back since i had an AGP slot... but then the 7 series came off and i was contemplating upgrading my MB... but then the 7800GT was way too pricey!!! 5 months back when i finally upgraded to ASUS M2N MX SE with 6150SE 512MB onboard video card... i realized it wasnt just good enuff for most new games... 8600GT made a huge difference although i still cant forget watching Call of duty 4 on the 7900GT at my friend's place !! Maan that rocked!

No zulquar... my requirement is not a card that does as good as an 8600GT.... imy definition of ultimate performance at great price is nothing short of the 8800GT which retails at around 260$..... since i wanted to wait for that price to come down and alos MUST need a Dx10 card.. i got the 8600.... else if i did not need Dx10 and just awesome performance for budget i'd rather have got the 7800GTX

btw Atomic.... i got my hands on CRYSIS... maan that game rocks!! What awesome realistic graphics!! I just wish i had an 8800!! i was able to have a very smooth gameplay with High settings with 1024 x 768 resolution... although the game suggested i use medium settings.... the game is so good and involving that u actually feel u are killing someone in real life! Simply the best FPS i've ever come accross... i hope there is a Mafia II with such kind of graphics.... will be the best complete game ever!

did u really play crysis in high resolution with ur 8600 gt !! ANY WAY the 3870 is by no means worster than the 8800 its just slightly slower with the aa and af on but this performence difference is not noticeable , and the hd 3870 supports dx 10.1 and has a 4.1 model pixel shader, so by no means its a bad card

i din know that there existed an ATI with dx10.1 compatibility dude... else i'd definitely have opted for that!!!

no i havent tried playing crysis with reshigher than 1024x768 coz i read somewhere that for playing this game in its best spec, u need an ultra expensive spec PC and that the power it consumes could support a cottage industry for 3 weeks or so

Yea, it is a cool game. I got mine the other day. I'm running it with a 7800GT at medium settings @ 1440x900 on a 19" widescreen LCD. It stutters at times during the cut scenes, but otherwise plays well.

7800GT.... Slurrrp.... i'm drooling!!

He he... then i might have stretched my card a lil too far... coz the cut scenes drag a bit... i guess i'l restrict to 1024 x 768 with medium settings coz mine is a 17" 4:3 LCD .... The ambience of the game is so much different from other FPS i've played so far... very natural.... I'm doubling my RAM to 2Gig tomorrow... been running 1gig 667 ddr2 Transcend..

Most new games demand a lot of space too.. like DiRT and crysis... so upgraded disk space yesterday.... ran out of SATA ports as well... 2 x 300gb SATA seagate hdd + 1 x 80gb IDE Seagate.... so that makes it 680gig
