Both cards are very good performers, but if I'm not mistaken, the 8800GTX will outperform the 3870 in just about every benchmark, but then again, it does cost quite a bit more.
Both cards will do you very well in Crysis, but maybe you should look at the 8800GT or the 8800GTS 512, those are built on the new G92 core and are suppoosdly faster then the original GTX.
