I'm pretty sure the 3870X2 beats the 9800GTX.

But, yeah, the 9800GTX beats the 8800 GT by a fair margin. I wouldn't worry about it much, though; the 8800GT are very decent cards for the price.

not THAT much of a margin, its for the most part an 8800GTS 512MB, with faster clocks more or less, spec's wise its very similar.

kazkas, has no idea what he's saying, yes its ONE of the fastest available, but not second fastest, its up there with the old 8800GTX/Ultra, & 3870 x2, all with in the same general range, however he is right about the 9800GX2, but even in some games/tests/bench's the older GTX/Ultra's still beat it out, simply because of the greater amount of memory on the card.

the 8800GT might be able to clock as high as the new 9800GTX, however, its still going to be stuck with the 112 Stream processors, where as the 8800GTS 512MB, 8800GTX/Ultra & 9800GTX all have 128 Stream processors. thats something you can't change.

nope, the 3870 x2 beats the 8800GT, & excels in many other games besides those.

don't know where your getting your info.

but I'd stay with the card you have now, save up & wait for Fall for the new chips/cards that are supposed to be out from nVidia, supposedly this time it will be all new architecture, instead of just a revamp of the current one, like the 8800GT/GTS & 9800 series G92 core cards are.

Yep, infact I believe the specs are identical to the 8800GTS 512 except slightly faster core/shader/mem clocks. If you can return your 8800GT for a full refund and just spend the additional $50 for the 9800 GTX then go for it, but it's not a HUGE upgrade.

As far as the 3870 X2, there are certainly mixed reviews on it. Sometimes it does very well, and other times it can be slower than single GPU cards that cost a lot less. This is pretty much the case with any Crossfire or SLI setup which is what the 3870 X2 and 9800 GX2 are, except on a single card.
